The Multi Aircraft Control System (MACS) team was honored with a 2010 Federal Lab Consortium (FLC) Far West Regional Award in the category of Outstanding Technology Development. MACS was originally created by Dr. Thomas Prevot in 2002 as a test bed for future air traffic concepts and has since been constantly expanded and improved by the Airspace Operations Laboratory (AOL). In addition to its use for rapid prototyping and high fidelity human-in-the-loop simulation studies in the AOL, MACS is also heavily utilized in many other labs at NASA Ames and Langley Research Centers as well as in academia and industry to evaluate critical aspects of the Next Generation Air Transportation System. The MACS team honored on September 1, 2010 in Jackson Hole, WY includes Tom Prevot, Rick Jacoby, Al Globus, Joey Mercer, James Wong, George Lawton, Easter Wong, Khanh Trinh, Ev Palmer, Jeff Homola, Matt Mainini, Connie Brasil, Paul Lee, Nancy Smith and Todd Callantine
