Aviation Communication Article by Dr. Loukia Loukopoulos and Dr. Immanuel Barshi published in HindSight

An article entitled "Close Interactions of the Disconnected Kind" by Dr. Loukia Loukopoulos and Dr. Immanuel Barshi was published in the Winter 2012 edition of HindSight, the magazine of Eurocontrol, the European Organization for Safety of Air Navigation. The article deals with problems in communication exchanges between air traffic controllers and flight crews. Based on analysis of Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) reports and current operations, the article suggests that air traffic controllers could avoid these kinds of misunderstandings by learning more about modern aircraft capabilities and limitations, and about current airline operations and procedures.
