Computational models and occupational vision standards for acuity and contrast sensitivity.  (2003)

This work is supported by the FAA and NASA's AvSP and AOS. It shows how vision models can be used to minimize observer testing in the setting of occupational vision standards. In this case (crack detection), it shows how the model can relate physical stimulus parameters to the effects of optical defocus on visibility.
